We spoke with Christopher Collings from CQM Healthcare, Norfolk about what is possible now!

 What do you think is the best thing that could happen regarding the Real Care Deal?

I think it shouldn’t just be a Norfolk thing. Because you can look at the value and the things in Norfolk and some of the good examples in Norfolk, but that’s happening all over the country in little villages and towns and everywhere.

Where we don’t necessarily consider it, but I think what it should do, it should go national. The reason it should go national is because of all those positive reasons. It’s giving people a platform. It’s saying to people, let look. Let’s not be judgmental. Let’s take people on face view. Let’s work with ’em.

Let’s make sure we construct a care plan that reflects who they are, what they need, and how they need it and allowing them to have control of it.

And if that were to happen, what do you believe would be made possible?

I think if it was to happen, it will change people’s concept ’cause there’s lots of concepts and it goes back to the sort of concept judgmental bit where people are doing that. But it’ll actually opens people’s eyes to, to what’s possible and what’s achievable. So I think sometimes we also need to. People say we, care’s gonna, care’s gonna increase over the years.

So we need to, if we haven’t done it already, we need to be preparing for an increased load of social care within the country because people are getting older and people’s needs and everything else. But what we need to do is we need to get, take it to the biggest audience possible so everyone understands, because sometimes you can talk to people and because they’ve not experienced illness or a situation in their family, what they tend to do is they say.

Yeah I’ve heard people have like care and they live, or they live in a place where they have to have care but because they’ve got no understanding, because it’s not affected them personally. If it could be out there on a general thing where people publicize it and people can get to see, because there’s no difference, they’re not different people.

They’ve just got different needs to you. That’s what you have to remember.”
