Nonnie Pippin – North Walsham
Welcome to my page. Here you will find out all about me and my work with writing and creating content with pictures and poems. I’m Nonnie Pippin and I’m based in North Norfolk.
Over the past few years I’ve been on a journey through the system trying to secure the right care and support for me and my family.
Short biog
Hello I’m Nonnie, I’m a writer living in Norfolk, I’m a fan of writing, music and web development. I’m also interested in singing and acting. I have written (not yet published) a book describing my mental health journey whilst coping with neurodiversity and the challenges that creates. I am also an avid collector of monopoly sets, too many to count, ranging from the 1935 version to the present day. I’m a born again Christian and prayer and church attendance are part of my weekly ritual.
I was set on the path of creating the endless poem by a meeting with the crisis team as a way of communicating my needs and an aid to sleep, and managing intrusive thoughts. Here are some of the poems I have created, including ones about the Real Care Deal itself.
Nonnie had challenges with Mental Health Services
Nonnie describes the challenges faced by mental health patients in North Walsham, emphasising the need to travel to cities like Norwich, Kings Lynn, or Great Yarmouth for support, which can exacerbate stress and complicate recovery.
They talk about a personal experience of ending up in Accident & Emergency in London due to a mental health crisis. They highlight the bureaucratic process, where fulfilling administrative tasks often takes precedence over patient care, describing how this system fails to provide continuous support.
There is also an account of an unsatisfactory experience at a rest hub that focused on task and administration overshadowing patient care.
Nonnie shares a positive experience at Birchwood Surgery in North Walsham, where a dedicated mental health service allows for face-to-face interactions and comprehensive care. This establishment provides a model for primary care where regular check-ups and personal engagement are prioritised.
